Animations

Shamine King graduated with a Bachelor Degree (Hons) in 2013, majoring in 2D Animation, from LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, in collaboration with Goldsmiths University, UK. Below are just some of the animations she produced throughout her three years at the college. All pre-production and animation is her sole work unless otherwise stated.

Honour Amongst Thieves (2013)

"HAT" is the culmination of five months' pre-production work, research, character, and landscape development. The film was initially inspired by gender inequality in the media, but expanded to address religion, the government, and the people they serve. Some pre-production and finalised character designs are available under the Honour Amongst Thieves tab.

Honour Amongst Thieves - Animatic (2013)

Compiled animatic for the "HAT" short, featuring the voice acting talents reading their scripts for the first time. The final animation was then produced using the timing, acting direction, and cuts established in this animatic.

Honour Amongst Thieves - Dance With Me Mini-Matic (2012)

Not required for the animation course: a quick animatic of HAT's main character "singing" the chorus to Dance With Me, in order to get a better feel for drawing him. Produced in a single evening.

Cecilia (2012)

Prompted to take a piece of music from the 70's and apply a completely unrelated story to it. Cecilia features a Voodoo Priestesses and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, represented by her children, who devour unsuspecting men in their swamp. Thus: all people return to the earth, regardless of social standing or class ... and all to the peppy tune of Simon and Garfunkel!

The Temple of Anubis (2011)

Her first attempt at an animated short, Shamine considers this as something of a trainwreck in terms of storytelling and character consistency. However, the main goal was to challenge herself in terms of animation, and to this end she included numerous walk cycles, run cycles, leaps, jumps, and transfers of weight.
